I've Moved!
Obviously, I've been holding out on everyone. I had all the intentions in the world of trying to be more open about my 'real' life on this blog and not just post pictures of knitting, but it does tend to be one of my personality traits that until I get warmed up to people I can be a little shy. Anyway, one of the benefits of being a nurse is that I have the opportunity to take part in what's called travel nursing due to the nursing shortage in the country. This just means that I send my resume out to a recruiter who then sends it out to hospitals all over who then decide if they want to hire me for a short, pre-specified period of time. If they do, then they pay me to travel there, and pay all my living expenses while I am living there working. It's a pretty sweet deal I think and due to a variety of reasons I decided it was high time I got out of my comfort zone in Idaho and went for it. So last week I packed up all the yarn and books and cds (who cares about practical things like pots and pans and bedclothes) I could fit into my tiny car and made a run for the coast (almost). I'm now in Everett, Washington which is 25 miles north of Seattle and about six hours away from my old home in Idaho and I'm committed to be here through June. After that things are pretty much up in the air. I could sign up for another contract here, go somewhere else or return back to my old hometown. I'm just kind of waiting and seeing. So far all I've managed to do is get somewhat settled in my apartment which is a 'corporate' apartment and thus comes furnished with rental furnishings that remind of motel furniture and go back and forth to work at the hospital. I am very much a small town girl, so even though people here say Everett isn't 'big' I tend to think it's huge and have a death grip on my steering wheel every time I venture out onto I-5. I did learn a back way to the hospital posthaste that does not require any freeway driving. I just couldn't take the adrenaline rush right before work. Hopefully this week will give me some free time so I can get back on track with the whole knitting thing (I haven't knitted a stitch for a couple of weeks- I'm going into withdrawals) and also venture out beyond the little two block radius I've made myself comfortable with so far. Also, hopefully pictures of my somewhat stark new digs and view to follow soon.

Let me know when you're ready to tackle NYC! No freeways, just subways :)
I work in a hospital there.

Moving can be scary, but it can also really so exciting. And just think, you have a whole new batch of yarn stores to explore. That must be worth the move alone. ;)
I can't wait to hear of your new adventures. Good luck!

Amazing! Good for you! One of my best friends is picking up and moving out to Seattle next month, and although I am going to miss her like crazy, I totally love the idea of visiting. I wish I could pick up and go!

Hi Ami -
I am your SP9 pal. I was wondering if you received the last package I sent you. I sent it to your address in Idaho on February 14th. If you can let me know if you received it or not, that would be great.
Sounds like you are making a great move for yourself. Good luck!

Welcome to Washington. When you feel like exploring there are about 8 million yarn shops in Western WA. In mid-May there's a LYS Tour (www.lystour.com)with 18-20 shops participating.

Sounds like an adventure! I've just started my 4th year of med school which means little or NO knitting time.
BTW: I received your gorgeous parcel. Thank you SO much! It's perfect. Would you please email your postal address as I couldn't quite make it out on the package and I'd love to reciprocate. x

Hello, I haven't posted here before. I found your blog just a week or so ago and really enjoyed your blog. Your knitting is lovely and the photos show off their beauty so well.
I was born just outside of Everett where my mother grew up. But we moved to Idaho when I was three. We were all back in the Everett area last year when my father was at the cancer research center fighting a rare type of cancer.
I hope that the adjustments of moving are going well. The driving especially is really intimidating. Everett may be 'small' to locals, but I know what you mean in it feeling quite big. The smaller towns starting from Seattle run into one gigantic metropolitan area making traffic heavy indeed.
